Messina Minerals is targeting zinc-lead-copper-silver-gold deposits in central Newfoundland, Canada. This area is known for its base metal potential and is within trucking distance of an operating 1,800 tonne per day base metal mine and mill at Duck Pond.

Messina's strategic objectives for growth and increasing investor value are two fold:
  • expand our mineral resource inventory by successful ongoing exploration
  • complete positive feasibility and other appropriate studies to justify a mining operation

Messina has outlined an estimated 2.4 million tonnes of zinc-lead-copper-silver-gold N143-101 compliant mineral resources within our Newfoundland properties. (Refer to the Mineral Resources section of this website for details). This estimate includes approximately 312 million lbs zinc, 133 million lbs lead, 21 million lbs copper, 7 million oz silver, and 93,000 oz gold. An additional historical resource of approximately 1 million tonnes of 14% combined zinc-copper-lead base metals located within 15km is also economically interesting.

Messina's immediate focus is on expanding the current resource by exploration. Messina has spent approximately $21 million in Newfoundland aimed at discovering new zones of base metal mineralization and upgrading local infrastructure within its Newfoundland properties in anticipation of future development.

Messina's management team has also begun consideration of a strategic development plan for underground exploration, resources upgrade, and bulk sampling at Boomerang within the Tulks South Project. Messina expects to undertake an upgraded preliminary economic assessment and preliminary engineering design studies and continue with environmental registration.
